The Whelk – John Leavitt

So, as some of you may know, I am pretty active on both Metafilter and MetaChat. Metachat had a whole holiday card exchange and I took it as an artistic challenge (cause of my huge writer’s block, drawing feels like a cool river of freedom, and cause I really like the Imaginary Internet People there and hey, I could use some CHEER!). The idea was to customize the cards and work in as many artistic styles as I could in a-do-it-in-under-an-hour time-frame using just a sheet of Bristol and whatever was at my desk at the time. I couldn’t sketch out ideas or use anything that wasn’t actually on my desk (reference photos, being on my computer, are on the desk). I think I did pretty good. Some examples

  1. Delicious artwork for the season.
